PLA vs PETG vs ABS: choosing the right 3D printing material

·1 min read

The material you print in matters as much as the design. Here are the three most common choices and where each one shines.

PLA — easy and detailed

PLA is the everyday workhorse: crisp detail, wide color range, and great for display models, prototypes, and decor. It is not built for high heat or heavy mechanical stress.

PETG — tough and versatile

PETG is stronger and more heat- and moisture-resistant than PLA, making it a solid choice for functional parts that need to survive real use.

ABS — strong and heat-resistant

ABS handles heat and impact well and can be finished smooth, but it needs more care to print. It suits durable, mechanical, or automotive-style parts.
